A Journey from an Artist to Designer

I am a fine artist and a jewellery designer with 16 years of experience in jewellery design and manufacturing. I have worked with renowned jewellery brands in Jaipur at the position of Chief Designer.
My specialized skill is designing Jadau Uncut Diamond jewellery with fine kundan-meena techniques. I also taught fashion design in a few big design colleges in Jaipur.

I am creating an outstanding range of JEWELS, inspired by the luminous monarchical history and magnificent artistry of the “Pink City” JAIPUR. The brilliant wisdom of the city brought me to explore new heights of creativity and elaborated craftsmanship. My jewellery consisted of fine kundan meena techniques & intricately paved stones into sheer metal in an original way with different styles. Each design is made to delight and surprise my customers worldwide.

A promise of Purity, Originality & Uniqueness.

About the Designer

I was schooled at Neemuch, MP & then completed my fine arts from Jaipur. Being from small town Neemuch, I had lack of direction to my skills and art. My mom understood this and researched to join me in a four years BFA course at International College for Girls (ICG), Jaipur.

After college (2004) I was back to Neemuch. Lack of immediate opportunities after the course, I started enhancing my learnings and started crafting art pieces and improvising them.

Stumbled upon a book called "Dance of Peacock" and it just opened my doors to a world of jewellery.

I was mesmerized and started fantasizing the jewels & jewellery from the book on my own body. I started self-designing jewellery and created 30-40 designs studying the Rani's, Maharani's, Raja's, Royal Jewellery, diamonds, stones, gems, workmanship etc. and infused my uniqueness in each of my designs.

This natural process of designing when I shared with my friends & family, I was introduced to a jeweller in Jaipur and understood how to start in the field of Jewellery.

I just walked in with my works to Jaipur's biggest names, MOTISONS & BIRDHICHAND. I was offered the role of jewellery designer at both places, but I chose MOTISONS to start my career. My first job helped me to learn the craft of jewellery making and innovating the process through my designs.

As our office was at Johari Bazaar – the heart of Jewellery of Jaipur, it helped me to explore workshops, karkhanas, karigars, cutters & wholesalers. I even had opportunity to bring my applied arts skills like photography, branding & advertising to launch the new showroom of MOTISONS at Tonk Road.

With a bag full of appreciation & love for jewellery, I moved on to new arenas of work like freelancing jewellery designing & helping local traders in launching new collections.

One of my collections inspired from the “City Palace” of Jaipur, gave me handful of opportunity and landed me in the team which has launched the showroom of Shilpa Shetty in Jaipur.

In my next works, I embraced the role of Head of Manufacturing, Head of Design & Head of Branding and successfully leading the teams.

Opportunities always knocked my door and I never missed grabbing them. I was offered the role of being an educator at a prestigious college “ARCH College of Design”.

Although this whole period I been a Jewellery Designer, I was asked to teach students the subject of Fashion. This came with a great learning and I was able to grab an experience of four years in teaching. ARCH to PODDAR, I played the role of professor with ease.

End of 2019 due to demise of my father I had to take over his business of tyres and move back to Neemuch.

A Vintage Store

HERAT DESIGNS

But to keep my passion alive from all my experiences combined and four years of teaching gave me confidence to start a brand called "HERAT".  I renovated the ground floor of my 100-year-old vintage house to a luxurious design store showcasing & selling handmade Jewellery, clothing, vintage furniture and artefacts etc.

Concept of HEART is inspired from my own journey. HERAT was an outstanding experience to the opulent society of Neemuch.
For HERAT, I travelled insider streets of various town and villages of Rajasthan.

Bringing the crafts together

My travel has brought all the crafts together from these places and gave me the opportunity to start Interior designing too.

Project: The Oak House - A marvelous restoration with modern-vintage style.

An 80-year-old heritage house converted with the guise of post-modernism style, concealing to its original nature and form.

HERAT stood test of times like Covid & Recession. The appreciation HERAT received and is receiving has made me dream bigger.

Dreams were bigger & town was nascent. I was restless & was continuously in the process of searching for bigger purpose.
